App privacy

Last updated 1 October 2026. This page covers the House of Ovelle mobile app for iOS and Android. Purchases made on houseofovelle.com are covered by our store privacy policy.

The short version

  • You can use the app without an account. Pairing a diffuser, setting schedules and tracking fragrance levels all work signed out.
  • We do not track you. There is no advertising identifier, no ad network, no analytics SDK and no third-party tracker anywhere in the app.
  • Photographs you add to a room, and any passcode you set on a diffuser, never leave your phone.
  • You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app, or by asking us. See Delete your account.

What the app stores on your phone only

These never reach our servers:

  • Room photographs you choose or take.
  • Diffuser passcodes, held in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore.
  • The first name you give for the greeting on the home screen.
  • Your diffusers, rooms, schedules and fragrance records, if you are not signed in or have not joined a household.

What we store when you sign in

Signing in is optional and uses Shopify's customer accounts — we never see a password, because there isn't one. Shopify emails you a code. Once you are signed in, our own service stores:

  • Who you are: your Shopify customer ID, email address and name.
  • Your cover: the diffusers on your orders — product, SKU, order number and dates — so the app can show what is still under warranty without asking you to register anything.
  • Warranty claims you open: the diffuser, what went wrong, and what you wrote.
  • Refill history: when you told the app a bottle was refilled, and the pump readings either side of it. This is how "about 11 days left" is worked out, and it is what lets a new phone pick up where the old one left off.
  • Notification preferences and push tokens, per device, plus a record of what we sent so we never send the same thing twice.
  • Messages you send us from the app's Help screen, with the technical details shown to you on that screen before you send.

If you share a household

Joining a household is a deliberate act — nothing syncs until you do. From then on, the people in that household share: diffuser names, the names you give your rooms, which fragrance is in each, refill baselines and the strengths you tuned. Room photographs and diffuser passcodes are excluded by design and stay on each phone.

Buying things

The shop inside the app is the real House of Ovelle catalogue, and checkout is Shopify's own, presented over the app. Your name, shipping address and payment details go to Shopify and its payment processors. They are never sent to, or stored by, House of Ovelle's app servers. We never see a card number.

What we do not collect

  • No advertising identifiers, no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track you with.
  • No location. On Android the app declares Bluetooth scanning as explicitly not deriving location; on iOS no location permission is requested at all.
  • No microphone, camera roll scraping, contacts or calendar.
  • No cross-app or cross-site profile of you, by us or anyone else.

Who else sees it

  • Shopify — sign-in, the catalogue, checkout and your order history.
  • Appstle — the subscription service behind refill plans, where you have one.
  • Expo — the push notification service that hands messages to Apple and Google. It sees the notification text and a device token.
  • Fly.io — where our service and its database run, in the United States.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Account data stays until you delete your account. Notification history is pruned after 90 days. Warranty cover is kept for the life of the cover — see the note on deletion below.

Deleting your data

In the app: Account → Delete account. It tells you exactly what will be removed before you confirm. You can also ask us at sales@houseofovelle.com. Full detail, including what survives and why, is on Delete your account.

Children

The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
